In his opening speech, Vice President/Dean Ma Yuanrong hoped that all teachers would work together to push the college towards a more internationally competitive future. Afterwards, Ms. Xu Huimei, Director of the Yunhui Academy Office, gave a report on the "Yunhui Academy's Implementation Work Results in the 113th Academic Year", explaining the school's dual-track policy of integrating colleges and academies, as well as the Yunhui Academy's implementation results in the 113th academic year: Fo Guang Shan lantern painting activities, Pu Men Middle School AI camp, experiential academy lectures, and the cultivation of academy student representatives...etc. To demonstrate to all teachers and college tutors the interim results of Yunhui College's "cultivating wisdom of Prajna and pursuing the path of innovation".
The special lecture “How to Establish an International Bachelor’s Program in the School of Applied Technology and Design” was given by Vice President Ma Yuanrong. Vice President Ma shared the establishment process of Donghua University’s international program and its outstanding international student recruitment performance, analyzed the successful model, and proposed an implementation strategy for Fo Guang University to move from the red ocean to the blue ocean. We hope that the establishment of an international bachelor's program will create a distinctive feature of the college and that the recruitment of international students will provide a diverse and broad source of students for each department. The faculty of our college agrees with this strategic direction, and each department will subsequently have in-depth discussions on topics such as all-English course design and planning, and cross-disciplinary/cross-departmental cooperation.
The special lecture “Application of Generative AI in Curriculum and Teaching” was given by Vice President/Dean of Academic Affairs Li Kunchong. Dean Li shared the application value of AI in teaching and used specific cases to illustrate how to use generative AI to strengthen teaching design and improve students’ learning outcomes. With his professional background in education, Provost Li shared how AI can assist teachers in lesson preparation and curriculum planning, the application and challenges of generative AI in student learning, the correlation between AI assessment mechanisms and student learning levels, etc., which aroused great interest among the teachers present and led to interactive exchanges on the experience of integrating AI into teaching.
At the end of the meeting, Vice President Ma and the attending teachers learned about and exchanged views on the current teacher evaluation/promotion assessment indicators of the college. Through the pre-meeting questionnaire survey and the feedback from the teachers attending the symposium, the current teacher evaluation and promotion assessment projects of the college still meet the needs and expectations of teachers. The college will also continue to collect opinions from all teachers in the college as a basis for optimizing future evaluation projects.
All the teachers who participated in this teacher training and exchange seminar expressed that they had gained a lot and had a deeper consensus on the development direction of the college. In the future, the college will work with various departments to continue to study the strategy for establishing international bachelor's programs, expand the source of international students, deepen the application of AI and SDGs in the curriculum, enhance teaching innovation capabilities, continuously optimize the teacher evaluation and promotion system, and promote the professional growth of teachers. The college will continue to hold teacher training and exchange activities on a regular basis to improve teaching quality and promote the college's development towards excellence through experience sharing and academic discussions!
